Women's Health Program
You don't let much slow you down. Now and then though, your
body can surprise you with sudden changes. At Advent
Rehabilitation, we're trained to address these changes. We can
help to keep you going strong.
For women only
At Advent Rehabilitation, we have therapists with special
training in, and concentrate their practices on health issues
unique to women.
- These issues include (but aren't limited to):
- Urinary incontinence
- Pregnancy-related pain (prenatal and postpartum)
- Problems after C-section, hysterectomy or other
abdominal surgery
- Problems after mastectomy
- Pelvic Pain
- Pain during intercourse
- Back Pain
- Abdominal pain
- Osteoporosis
Conservative treatment options
We offer proven, conservative programs based on sound
physical therapy principals. These programs can help patients
reduce their pain and manage other symptoms - and sometimes
even avoid surgery.
Some of the treatments we offer include:
- SEMG biofeedback to strengthen the pelvic floor
- Electric stimulation
- Internal vaginal or rectal trigger point release
- Fitting for maternity braces
- Prenatal/postpartum pool class
- Back education
- Modalities (i.e., ice, heat, ultrasound)
First things first: patient assessment
Before treatment begins, the therapist gives each patient a
comprehensive evaluation. This helps determine the patient's
current physical condition.
After the evaluation, the physical therapist works closely
with the patient to meet the patient's individual needs.
Treatment recommendations are discussed with the patient.
(Most of our treatments are covered by insurance.)
It's amazing, what you can do
Many women are amazed to discover how much better they can
feel, and how physical therapy can help address the special
needs of a woman's body.
Women are often thrilled to discover what a difference body
knowledge can make.
Women who suffer from incontinence can throw their pads
away. Those in loving relationships can enjoy physical
closeness again. Prenatal and postpartum women can experience
pain relief. Post-operative patients can regain strength and
mobility.
How to begin
Ask your doctor about a referral to the Women's Health
Program at Advent Rehabilitation. Participation in our program
requires a written referral from your physician. Ask him/her.
