Lymphedema
Lymphedema is swelling that can occur in an arm or a leg
due to a malfunction in the lymph system. You can be born with
lymphedema, it can occur during puberty, or it can occur as a
result of having your lymph nodes removed or treated with
radiation.
At Advent Rehabilitation, our certified lymphedema
therapists can help you recognize the symptoms of lymphedema
and manage these symptoms before the condition worsens.
Therapy may include bandaging, garment fitting, manual lymph
drainage massage, education on proper skin care and exercise
instruction.
If you notice a change in the way that your arm or leg
looks or feels, or if you have any questions regarding
garments, bandaging, exercises, or the latest air travel
recommendations, please contact your doctor or health care
professional for a referral to the Lymphedema Program at
Advent Rehabilitation. We also welcome phone calls or emails
with any questions that you may have.
